T-minus 3 days

I didn’t believe the ticker when I logged in this morning and saw 3 days left! I thought there was some mistake until sis confirmed that we only had Thursday, Friday and Saturday to go! OMG *screams*

Yup, so it’s T-minus 3 days and I just took my photoshoot 2 days ago with the wonderful Jenny Sun! With so few days to go, I wasn’t sure who was more worried - Jenny or us! Hehe, the weather wasn’t in our favour to take outdoor photos and so after several days of anxiously watching the heavy dark clouds, we finally managed to get our photoshoot done. In a last attempt bid to save some money, I managed to cajole sis into doing my makeup and woot! It is great to have a beauty blogger as a sister! She did such a good job that even Jenny was impressed through the camera lenses! Good stuff for something done at 6am that morning! Thankoo!

Programme - We luckily managed to churn out an MC script and programme yesterday whilst trying to clear work emails. I seriously never thought doing a programme was so difficult! There are so many elements to think of and I still don’t even have my toasts written up yet.

Guests - I spent most of this afternoon attempting to do the seating arrangements and have just about given up. How does one seat someone who does not want to sit with ABC or would rather sit with XYZ?! At the end of the day, bosses aren’t going to eat you and they are human too! It’s not your wedding so just sit there quietly and enjoy the night!!

Venue - On a good note, we might be able to meet our 15 tables quota after all. Its incredible how very quickly the venue management can turn nasty and start imposing all kinds of additional charges when we broached the possibility of having less than 15 tables! So we’re off to discuss deco tonight and to run a rehearsal tomorrow night. Hopefully people turn up!

Favours - We’re almost there, thanks to the fiance who stayed up most of last night doing them! The lucky bride-to-be went to bed early. Hey, a girl’s gotta look radiant on her big day! Hopefully our guests would like them! Mom looked suitably impressed when she say them today and those weren’t even the completed ones yet! Whee!

Ok, back to those darn seating plans. My dresses are not even collected as they had to be sent back for cleaning after the outdoor photo session. Collecting them tomorrow and I’m really excited I do love my gowns!

T-minus 8 Days And Counting

It’s T-minus 8 days and wahey! I never thought this day would come!

Excited? I’m not sure. Exhausted…definitely.

I used to think that Bridezilla meant a bride who was a stickler about details and would scream her way through things to ensure they get done. I used to think that I was pretty cool all throughout the wedding planning journey, even up to the point of being overly relaxed with preparations. However, this only means that now we have a whole long list of things that are still not done and it also means me being as jumpy as a Mexican bean each time the word “wedding” is breathed.

I’ve been in a foul mood, ’nuff said and perhaps overly sensitive and mean. I feel sorry for the fiance who’s often the brunt of my bridezilla-ness and I think he might be regretting the day he proposed! Thanks for putting up with me, J and so sorry for being so mean *hugs*

It’s the green monster in me taking over!

It’s also shocking to see that only half our guest list can make it. Its sad when I originally thought that our little KL reception of 15 tables might be too few for the guests we had but now even 15 tables look too many I wonder why…maybe no one likes me! *bawls*

Anyway, the show must go on and go on it shall! Even if it means us staying up all night to finish those favours!

Just one golden tip for brides to be out there…do try not to leave everything to the last minute like we did!

Evening Gown Found! :)

Remember my quest to find the right evening gown?

Well, after some agonizing decision-making and in a fit of desperation with only 3 weeks away from my KL reception, I finally found my evening gown!

I’ll be going for my first fitting this coming Thursday and boy am I excited! I can’t imagine it took me close to a year just to decide on the dress and I’m sure its going to look great! I wasn’t even this excited over the wedding gown!

No hints of what it will look like but its going to be something in floaty chiffon…and striking!

Now I have several dresses lined up! Eeps..perhaps I should do several changes

Mamma Mia Dream Wedding

I just caught Mamma Mia, The Movie. Thank you, Nuffnang Read here for the spoilers and the storyline.

The story centres around Sophie’s wedding and sigh, that would be my dream wedding! Imagine having a wedding set on a beautiful little Greek island where the only way to access it was via a boat. To have a wedding ceremony in a tiny little chapel right on top of a hill where the only access is through a long winding lane and a wedding dinner outdoors on long tables covered with pristine white table cloths and good food! Couple that with lots of singing and dancing and wouldn’t that be the most perfect wedding?!

Unfortunately Chinese traditions are different so as romantic as it would be to sail off away in a flower covered boat after the wedding, we’re sticking to the 8-course Chinese dinner!

Diet Tips Needed!

Everyone has always told me a bride-to-be loses tremendous amount of weight before her big day. My colleague told me how her sister lost so much weight before her big day that her wedding gown threatened to fall off her shoulders even after it was zipped! Even the wedding consultant in Armadale Bespoke told me that I will definitely lose a few kilos before the big day which will be just what I need to fit into a nice streamlined evening gown I was interested in.

This is really odd then because I am at T-82 days *gasp* and I have not lost an absolute ounce! In fact, I believe I have been putting on weight instead as I definitely seem to feel a bit fleshier all over although my clothes still fit well! HELP!

Put it down to my laziness in exercising and a sudden burst of appetite! Unlike hardworking brides to be who pound away at the gym or swim away those pounds, I have been to the gym a total of 5 times in the last few months! Oddly too, I am not experiencing that much stress despite the tremendous things that I have not done yet. Maybe I need to turn up the stress dial? Or maybe I’ve just gotten really tired with planning! Did any of you feel this way? I thought things would start heating up as the clock starts counting down but recently, I haven’t had much enthusiasm in researching or planning.

How did you lose weight in preparation for your wedding?! My attempt to eat less carbohydrates have left me with such low energy levels I barely last the day!

Any good tips to share?

Which Church Will It Be?

The couple who completed our pre-marriage counselling told us they just managed to get St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kuala Lumpur for their wedding ceremony.

They managed to withstand the uncertainty of the 4 month waiting period and even managed to talk the church secretary into allowing them to use outside florists for the church decoration! Lucky them!

As much as I love this quaint little church, we were unable to get it as we were planning a ceremony for Sunday which was absolutely no bounds due to the church services held on that day.

So, we’re back at the drawing board now trying to get one of 2 churches in our little hometown. While both are church buildings, as opposed to shoplots, they are Chinese Presbyterian churches. One has quite a large building but lots of Chinese banners on the wall :p The other is really hard to get as apparently they only reserve it for members which J isn’t. However, it is the latter I prefer due to its small quaint building (I have stage fright so no big church halls for me :p)!

So, we’re now still twiddling our thumbs and keeping our fingers crossed something good will materialise!

Whatever you do, please don’t remind me how few days we have left! :p

Wedding Guest List

I managed to tie the fiance down over the last week after his crazy travel schedule to embark on the most painful part of wedding planning - the guest list!

If I thought wedding planning was difficult, the part of deciding who to invite must be the most difficult part of the whole process. We are a marked contrast from each other. He has a huge group of friends from every part of his life to invite while I have only a few friends and those few good ones I have are not even here in Malaysia! Add all these to our already very limited space for our reception and attempting to do a decent wedding guest list is one giant nightmare!

I’m currently struggling with several issues:

Ex-colleagues. I have some ex-colleagues whom I wasn’t close with but know they will probably end up offended if I don’t invite them.

Present colleagues? For the first time in my career, I am in a huge department where we often have weekly meetings amongst my peers. I’m not sure if I can get away with just inviting a small bunch of them whom I’m good friends with instead of the whole group which can easily be more than 20 people.

A good tip I recently read in helping you trim your wedding guest list is to invite just one party instead of a couple if you are not friends with both the couple. Is that acceptable as well?

The fiance is almost done with his list, we’re running over our allocated tables and I’m still not even a quarter there simply because I’m not sure who to ask! What a nightmare…*sigh*

Useful Bridal Forums

Me and the internet are inseparable :p Make me go without the internet for a few days and I start having withdrawal symptoms! So it was only natural that I turned to the internet to research on my wedding. I am quite pleased to report that I have yet to buy a bridal magazine although I’ve been tempted by it many times!

Online bridal forums have been my main source of research and thank goodness for them! Here are some of my favourite forums:

One of my favourite sites is Wedding Bee. It’s an amazing collection of blogs of bride-to-bes in the US and I never fail to be impressed by their DIY ideas and reception styles! These wonderful girls have such beautiful ideas and tips to make your wedding extra special! I only wish I had enough time to read up on all their entries!

Singapore Brides is another favourite because although they are just a hop, skip and jump away, Singaporean girls are light years ahead in terms of style and sophistication! They have the nicest gowns and unique favours and their photography styles are definitely different from those we get here. It’s a good read for a different twist.

For a local flavour, hop over to Malaysia Brides forum. It’s a useful place to start if you are Malaysian and looking for local vendors or ideas. Through them, I have managed to learn some good ideas!
