Being Safe

Living in the city is dangerous especially for women so I was really glad that DH signed me and my sis up for the Tribe Toyota City Survival Skills workshop. It was conducted by a really entertaining man who has been involved in all kinds of rescue missions and is conducting his own research on the incidences of rape and kidnapping especially in the city. I think it is a really noble deed that he’s doing in helping keep our streets safer for women.

During his workshop, we were given pepper sprays and taught clever ways to use wireless alarms to alert the household should there be an intruder. What was really interesting was how he warned us never to reveal or teach what was taught to us in the workshop to our husbands or boyfriends. Apparently, in some cases, the husband or boyfriend is the one who ends up hurting the women. Ironical when they are supposed to protect them!

All in all, it was a great workshop and although it made me rather paranoid, I would really recommend it to all women. It never hurts to be extra safe and careful.
