How Many Honeymoons?

Honeymoon

How many honeymoons should one go for? Some say, as long as the kids don’t come along, every holiday should be a honeymoon! :)

I love travel and in our preparation and financial savings for our weddings last year, I made it a point not to spend too much on travel or trips until after the wedding. And make up for this lack of travel, we did, with 3 honeymoons and hopefully many more to come! ;) I’m a City Girl and absolutely love cities all around the world while J is a nature-lover and nothing thrills him more than a clean white beach and azure blue waters. So how to find a honeymoon that suits us both? Well, if marriage is about compromise then so are holidays!

Read on to know where we went!

Pre-Honeymoon to Taiwan

Credits

This was actually a last minute trip when I decided to follow J on his business trip to Taiwan. We both worked during the day (he in his client’s offices and me in the hotel room!) so it wasn’t much of a honeymoon during the day but it was lovely to spend some time at night walking around the famous Taiwan night markets and sampling local delights. As he was on business, the Tango Hotel we stayed in Taipei was excellent! :D Ooh…how I love that jacuzzi and the in-built TV in the bathroom wall that allowed me to watch hundreds of Taiwanese game shows! I only wished I could have spent longer mornings sleeping in! Shopping was excellent and the food even better…definitely hope to go back there again some time.

Mini Honeymoon to Phuket

Credits

A week after our wedding, we took off to what is fast becoming our annual getaway - Phuket! We needed a break after all that hectic wedding planning and Phuket was a near and familiar choice. I didn’t really want to be running around to view new sights and sounds on a honeymoon but just to kick back and relax, hence Phuket - where we knew exactly where to go for food and massages and not having to stress ourselves out with sight-seeing! We stayed at Mercure Hotel Patong, a new hotel on Patong Beach which was quite comfortable and had a great breakfast! Interestingly enough, we did not even go to the beach!

Real Honeymoon In Maldives

Credits

These little trips were just a teaser of the real thing to come - our real and proper honeymoon in Maldives! Maldives has always been somewhere we’ve both wanted to go as we love diving and heard the sea life there is simply amazing. It is also a rather expensive and exclusive destination so despite sighing over gorgeous villas such as Conrad Hilton Maldives (which comes with an underwater restaurant!) or the Huvena Fushi resort (with an underwater spa!), we settled for the more affordable Club Med Kani - an all-inclusive resort that promised free flow of food, drinks, water sports (excluding diving) and nightly entertainment! Diving was fantastic and snorkling was superb with the huge eagle ray, tuna and schooling fish we saw on both trips. The waters are amazingly blue and so clear we could see little black tip sharks swimming along the shore from where we stood on the beach! I found the beach and the sun a little too hot most of the time but it was a fantastic honeymoon and our 5 days passed much too quickly! Ah Maldives…I will be back again someday!

We got back just 2 months ago and I’m already yearning for another holiday especially when I saw some great deals by YTL Resorts in Bali, Pangkor Laut and Tanjung Jara and cheap flights to Japan! Will I finally get my dream holiday of an exclusive villa with its own pool to holiday in or a frantic paced City adventure of shopping and walking? Let’s wait and see! ;)
