Qun Gua - Traditional Chinese Wedding Costume
Wedding GownsI’ve been lucky to have a colleague who’s planning to get married the week after mine and it has been great fun sharing tips and ideas. Her potential in-laws are rather traditional and her mother-in-law to be has requested for her to don the traditional Chinese kwa during the tea ceremony.

I personally like the gwa or the traditional Chinese wedding gown. It looks very grand with its gold and silver threads and embroidery against bright red material. The only problem with the gwa is that it tends to be pretty shapeless and in my case, makes me look about 80 years old! The rental of the kwa is also really expensive and can range all the way up to RM1,000 for 3 days, simply it is such an elaborate and expensive costume.
Whilst researching, we were lucky to chance upon The Wedding Isle, a one-stop wedding centre for make up, accessories, custom made shoes and gwa rental. They have 3 options of the gwa to choose from - Classic, Premium and Exclusive which have varying detailing and designs.

Classic Premium Exclusive
My colleague paid them a visit and was thrilled to report that they are having 30% on their kwas and custom made shoes in the month of July!
Sigh, too bad this traditional Chinese wedding costume doesn’t suit me! Otherwise it’ll add some nice tradition and colour in my wedding!
