One Ring To Rule Them All
Wedding PlanningI was really pleased to mark off yet another item on our checklist last weekend - the shopping of our wedding bands!
I have to admit that I have been a really blasé bride-to-be. I have been reading about girls who go all around town looking for that perfect wedding band or who custom make theirs with special additions or designs that are special to the couple. Me? I just went to the goldsmith my Mom recommended and voila:
One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them
I was originally looking for a band with a diamond and I have to admit being terribly in love with the Tiffany Lucida Band Ring under their Celebration series. Its such a beautiful platinum ring with a full circle of diamonds. Check out the picture below…wouldn’t you agree?
I am such a sucker for advertising!
That picture never fails to warm my heart! Ah, a girl can but dream!
I did some research in the jewelry stores and I was surprised to find that most places don’t really carry platinum rings simply because the price of platinum has shot up so high that it makes very expensive inventory to hold. Platinum is also a very strong metal so it is harder to mould into pretty designs compared to white gold. However, platinum is a stronger material and will never go out of shape or tarnish.
When we went back home last weekend, Mom suggested that we take a look at the goldsmith she knows so off we went and like the One Ring, J found his ring, just like that! It was the platinum band he had always been looking for and it was a perfect fit! It was as if the One Ring has been waiting for the right owner all this while!
I got the matching band and kissed my Tiffany & Co Lucida Band Ring goodbye :p Honestly, all those diamonds, pretty as they were, would have been a bit too much as a wedding ring! Still…*sigh*
I didn’t manage to grab a picture of the rings before I squirreled them away but here’s what they look like:
Strong, untarnished and a neverending circle. Let’s hope this will be a sign of our lives ahead!

err..somehow the reference to LOTR was a bit disturbing..
but the one you chose is very pretty - simple and timeless.
I wouldn’t have gotten the Tiffany ring though - if it was me, I’d be so worried wearing it out in case any of the stones fall out (not kidding, a friend actually lost two diamonds off her eternity ring - heartbreak aitelyu!) or kena robbed for it!
Bee - Hehe..I can’t help but think of that line whenever I put on my ring. Blame it on too much of LOTR!
The diamonds fell out?! Where did she buy it from? Can get replacement or not?
