Armadale Bespoke Photography

Wedding Gowns

My pre-wedding photoshoot is coming up! :)

I was advised by my pre-wedding photographer to rent a gown for the pre-wedding photoshoot instead of using my own. He was planning to shoot in all kinds of interesting and unconventional areas in KL and advised me to rent if I didn’t want to get my own gown dirty. So although I originally decided against the conventional bridal studios, this advice found me back at them to check out their gowns and enquire on their rental rates.

Be prepared to be shocked at some of their prices! If you just stroll in there and ask to rent a gown without signing up for one of their expensive packages, you’ll be shocked to find that just one gown alone could cost as much as half the package price!

I was too lazy to visit those bridal studios on Jalan Ipoh so I was really glad to find Armadale Bespoke Photography when I went to the recent Carcosa Wedding Fair. I used to admire their photographs as one of the photographers I previously interviewed does lots of shooting for Armadale. Armadale is set in a quiet little bungalow in Damansara Heights (it’s so quiet that it doesn’t even have a signboard on the front!) and carry a small but gorgeous range of designer gowns. According to the sales assistant, they only carry designer gowns from designers such as Carven Ong or Keith Kee and I have to say that their range was really quite pretty.

I managed to negotiate a package with the owner, Cheryl, for the rental of a gown and full day make up and hair do. It was surprisingly quite affordable considering that the make up artist was going to follow me the whole day on the shoot and I was free to choose any gown I wanted from their designer range. Most of their gowns have only ever been once or twice and apparently they have new gowns coming in almost every week.

The sales assistant was very helpful in picking out gowns suitable for an outdoor pre-wedding shoot and some were really quite nice. One grouse though…I got rather depressed trying them on as their gowns were tiny! Most of them could barely zip up all the way! I seriously hope it was just their gowns and not me! :P

I haven’t picked out my gown yet but I should be going back there in a couple of weeks to look for one. It’s tough to choose from such a wide range of available gowns! Hopefully I find one that I like enough! :)
